Need Bulk Pick-up? Howell Offers Options

If you are getting rid of bulk items, Howell has two ways you can do that.

HOWELL, NJ — If you are planning to get rid of big items in the spring, from furniture to old appliances to other large junk, Howell Township has two ways to do that.

Residents can drop off items at the Township Recycling Center, and you can bring all debris normally accepted in the curbside bulk pickup program. There is a limit of one pickup truck load per visit.

The Recycling Center, 278 Old Tavern Road, is open Tuesday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Proof of residency is required for access to the Recycling Center. Accepted forms of proof include an active driver’s license or non-driver’s identification card, a property tax bill, or an original unexpired lease agreement naming the resident as lessee or renter.

The center will be closed on Mondays to facilitate cleanup and waste hauling.

Professional contractors and vehicles or trailers with commercial plates are not permitted to access the center for bulk trash. The center will not accept demolition material, construction debris, tires, hazardous materials, paint, or motor oil. Trailers will only be accepted for bulk drop-off Tuesday through Friday.

Leaves and brush can still be dropped off by trailer six days a week.

If you cannot get to the recycling center, Howell Township will continue to offer curbside pickup on a limited schedule in the spring and fall. Appointments for spring pickup will begin on Monday, April 6. Residents can schedule these by calling the Public Works office at 732-938-4500 ex. 2450.

Appointments for spring pickup can be made starting Wednesday, March 25.
