Reward Posted For Information On Howell Little League Break-In
The Howell South Little League - and police - are investigating vandalism and theft at the League's building in Deerwood Park.

HOWELL, NJ — Enough is enough for Rory Durnin, president of the Howell South Little League.
The league building in Deerwood Park, a township park in the Ramtown area, has been broken into before. But after a break-in last week, plus vandalism, the league is now offering a reward for information about the incident.
"It's not the first time" there has been a break-in, Durnin said Monday. "It's a nonprofit. This just strikes a different nerve," he said.

So Howell South Little League is offering a $300 cash reward for information about the break-in. The reward includes one year of free league registration to the league.
The incident occurred between Thursday and Friday nights (Aug. 4 and 5). The Howell South Little League is based in the Ramtown section of the township.

According to a social media post on its Facebook page, the league is looking for information that can identify the suspect or suspects responsible for breaking and entering, vandalizing, and stealing items from the snack stand.
And the post itself struck a nerve. There have been thousands of shares of the post. In fact, a GoFundMe site has been set up for the league.
Durnin said a retractable door for the building, which is leased from Howell, is damaged beyond repair. There were other thefts that Durnin did not want to specify. But the building is secured now, he said.
It's not good timing either for expensive repairs. The Fall Ball season is starting in three weeks and the league would rather use its funds for Little League kids - not fixing up its damaged premises. The league normally has about 250 to 300 registrants, Durnin said.
The league's Facebook post is bringing attention to the problem, and Durnin said he hopes it all helps resolve the problem.
