RV Takes Out 4 Utility Poles, 150 Feet Of Fence, Gets Stuck In Woods; Driver Charged With DWI: Police
Witnesses kept Howell Township police updated on the location of the RV as patrol units responded, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — A Howell man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed an RV into four utility poles and through a fence, and then tried to run away after getting the RV stuck in some woods, police said Monday.
Howell Township police received several calls Sunday evening reporting an RV driving erratically on Route 524, police said Monday.
As patrols responded, witnesses reported the RV crashed into at least four utility poles and approximately 150 of fence, police said, however the driver continued to drive despite the RV sustaining severe damage.

As the RV continued to drive, the witnesses stayed on the phone with the police dispatcher, who relayed information to the patrol officers, police said.
The operator of the RV continued into Farmingdale, where he drove behind the Shop n Bag on Main Street, police said.

"In a desperate attempt to escape, he tried to drive into the woods," police said, but the RV got stuck, and as the driver tried to run he was apprehended by Howell police.
The driver, identified as Robert Kalipersad, 52, of Howell. was subsequently issued 10 motor vehicle summonses to include driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, reckless driving, leaving the scene and failure to report an accident, and numerous others, police said. He was turned over to the hospital for medical assessment and treatment, police said.
"The Howell Police express our gratitude to all those who assisted. It's very fortunate no one was hurt," police said.
