Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Effect For Monmouth County

Heavy rain will continue for at least an hour; flooded roads, 60 mph gusts likely, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service’s Mount Holly office has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Monmouth County as a line of thunderstorms is set to move through the area.

The Mount Holly forecasters said the line of thunderstorms is capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and were moving at 75 mph.

Accuweather.com said the rain will continue until about 3 p.m.

“Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds and very heavy rain,” the alert said. “For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business. There is little to no lightning with these storms.”

The alert also included a warning that the heavy rains will cause road flooding.

“Do not drive into areas where water covers the road,” the alert said.
