Teen's Car Shot At In Howell, Authorities Say

The shooting on Wednesday night remains under investigation.

HOWELL, NJ — Authorities are investigating after a 17-year-old's car was shot at in Howell Township on Wednesday night, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said.

The teenager, from Wall Township, was not injured in the shooting that happened about 7:20 p.m., Wall police and the prosecutor's office said Thursday.

The teen was driving a black 2015 Hyundai Veloster, Wall police said. Authorities have not said where in Howell the shooting happened or whether the car was hit by any bullets.

The incident led to authorities closing Route 33/34 westbound from Collingwood Circle was shut down for an active police investigation at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

In an update posted around an hour later, Wall police said they had received a report of a shooting from a vehicle, though an investigation found that the incident did not occur in Wall Township. The road was reopened around 9:30 p.m.

The prosecutor's office said its Major Crimes Bureau and the Howell Police Department are investigating.
