Two Men Killed In Howell Crash Overnight

The two men were pronounced dead at the scene, police chief says.

HOWELL, NJ -- Two Farmingdale men died early Saturday morning when the car they were in left the road and hit a tree, Howell police said.

William Farrell III, 25, and Timothy Lippincott, 26, sustained significant injuries in the crash in the area of 173 Asbury Ave. and were pronounced dead at the scene, Howell Police Chief Andrew Kudrick said.

Police were called to the scene about 2:30 a.m. and found a 1993 Dodge Stealth with severe damage, he said.

The initial investigation showed Farrell, who was driving, crossed the double yellow center line and left the road, hitting a tree and then a utility pole, Kudrick said. The car was nearly split in two, he said.

Farmingdale-Howell First Aid Squad and Squankum Fire Company responded, Kudrick said.

The investigation is being conducted by Howell Police Traffic Safety Officers Scott Brooks and Matthew Cherney; anyone with information is asked to call them at 732-938-4575 ext 2185 or 2629.

"The Howell Police extend our condolences to the family and friends of both of the young men," Kudrick said. "Please show respect for the families and refrain from speculation or comments that would cause additional pain."
