Want To Prepay Your 2018 Howell Property Taxes? Here's Info

The tax reform bill signed into law limits the property tax deduction to $10,000; many are hoping to maximize their 2017 deduction.

HOWELL, NJ -- If you are considering prepaying your 2018 property taxes, the Howell Township Tax Collector's Office says time is running out to do so.

As a result of the tax bill signed into law last week that changes the tax code, the deduction for state and local taxes -- including property taxes -- is now limited to $10,000. As a result, many people are seeking to prepay their 2018 property taxes to maximize their state and local tax deduction for 2017.

Howell Township Tax Collector Susan C. Davison said the Howell tax collector's office can only accept payment on 2018 taxes for the first and second quarters as billed.

"If you have a mortgage company responsible for paying your taxes, you must notify them of your intentions. It is also suggested that you discuss this issue with your tax preparer prior to making payments."
