Before You can say Jackie Robinson: Black Baseball in America and New Jersey in the era of the Color Line

The Jackson Branch of the Ocean County Library will be hosting Dr. Lawrence Hogan of Union County College and Jim Robinson, a veteran of the Negro Leagues. This presentation includes exhibit materials, as well as selections from the acclaimed video documentary of the same name. The black part of our national game is explored, and the speaker examines the in depth relationships that comprised “Blackball” during America’s era of segregation. This program is funded by the Horizon’s Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Friends of the Jackson Library and co-sponsored by Jackson Little League.  This event will take on Wednesday, September 16 @ 7:00pm. This program is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. Space is limited, so please register early.
