BEFORE YOU CAN SAY JACKIE ROBINSON: BLACK BASEBALL IN NJ AND AMERICA IN THE END OF THE COLOR LINE

Black Baseball in America

This presentation includes exhibit materials, as well as selections from the acclaimed video documentary of the same name. The black part of our national game is explored, and the speaker examines in depth the rich relationships that comprised ”Blackball” during America’s era of segregation. Lawrence Hogan, Phd, Professor of History at Union County College will be the presenter.

This program will take place at the Jackson Branch of the Ocean County Library on Wednesday, February 11th, 2015 @ 2:00pm. This program is offered through the Horizon Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment of the Humanities. The program is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. Space is limited, so please register early.
