HOWELL, NJ - The Howell Alliance for Substance Use Prevention & Mental Health Awareness is slated to host a Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification Training class on Nov. 7. Topics for discussion include early intervention, interventions and initial help, and methods to help an adolescent who is in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge.
The certificate training, dubbed “COVID-19 Stressors Impact Mental Health” is aimed at educating residents on risk factors and warning signs of mental health or substance use problems in adolescents in the context of COVID-19.
The training will use role-playing and simulations to demonstrate tactics to assess a mental health crisis. The course is designed for adults who regularly interact with adolescents, such as teachers, school staff, parents and youth group leaders.
