17th Annual Wrobo Run 5k! Superhero Themed for 2015!
The Junior Woman’s Club of Jefferson Township will hold the 17th Annual Memorial Wrobo 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 9:00 am. This year, we are excited to announce that the run will have a SUPERHERO THEME to honor one of our community’s greatest superheroes, 2nd Lt. John T. Wroblewski.
Each year the Memorial Wrobo Run is held in honor of 2nd Lt. John T. Wroblewski and raises funds for various community projects. Oak Ridge resident 2nd Lieutenant John Thomas (J.T.) Wroblewski succumbed to injuries sustained while battling in Ramadi, Iraq in April 2004. J.T. was a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Marines only days after the 9-11 attacks, determined to make a difference. He left behind his mom, dad, three younger brothers, his widow and many additional family members and friends.
The Junior Woman’s Club of Jefferson Township has decided to donate the proceeds from this Wrobo Run to :
The Center for Addiction Recovery Education & Success (CARES) is a peer-to-peer, volunteer based recovery oriented sanctuary located in Rockaway, NJ. This organization works to engage and organize the recovery community by helping individuals find, maintain, and enhance their recovery experience through peer support, educational and volunteer opportunities and sober recreation, as well as working to reduce stigma associated with substance abuse through advocacy, education and service. Visit CARESNJ at www.caresnj.org.
Also, the Junior Woman’s Club contributes to our Jefferson Township High School graduates’ pursuit of higher education. Twenty percent of the proceeds from this event will go toward our high school scholarship award, an award that honors graduating students who have displayed an extraordinary level of civic dedication via volunteer efforts throughout their lives, along with exceptional academic achievement.
