Boating Safety Course on Saturday 04/25/2026 provided by a US Coast Guard and NJ State Police approved Boating Safety/Certification Course provider. All our instructors are USCG and NJ State Police certified.
US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-10 Lake Hopatcong is offering the course and exam to obtain your NJ Boating Safety License (NJ BSC) to operate a Power Boat/PWC (Jet Ski) legally on NJ waterways on Saturday April 25th. The course will be delivered at: 
Hopatcong Senior Center, 32 lakeside Blvd Hopatcong, NJ 07843
Course hours are 8am to 5pm with check in at 7:30 am.
The student fee for $75 paid in advance or $80 if paid on the day of the class.
All course material and the final exam is included.
Upon completion of the course and passing the exam, students will receive their NJ BSC, a lifetime Boating Safety Certificate issued by the NJ State Police Marine Services Division

CELEBRATE OUR COUNTRY’S 250th&nbsp;BIRTHDAY WITH THE JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY BANDS&nbsp;The Jefferson Arts Committee invites you to enjoy the music of the Jefferson Township Community Jazz and Concert Bands under the direction of Peter A. Tummillo, Jr. on Saturday evening, May 9 at 7pm&nbsp;for A Celebration of 250 Years of Our American Heritage. Featuring a patriotic musical program in the Jefferson Township High School Auditorium, 1010 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge, NJ, admission is FREE, and all are welcome.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;This year marks the 250th birthday of America - the United States’ Semi quincentennial! While our country will be celebrating this significant occasion on July 4, 2026, marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed, let’s celebrate together as a community at this special musical tribute on May 9. The JAC encourages everyone to wear their red, white, and blue!&nbsp;&nbsp;The JAC is pleased to have Denville’s official Town Crier Douglas Gabel participate by welcoming guests and dignitaries. &nbsp;Dressed&nbsp;in a red and gold coat, white breeches, black boots and a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tricorne" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">tricorne</a>&nbsp;hat as was the&nbsp;tradition dating back to the 18th century, Gabel will carry a handbell to attract people’s attention as he shouts the words "Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!" before making his announcements. The word "Oyez" means "hear ye," which is a call for silence and attention.&nbsp; In essence, a town crier historically served as a town’s voice, spreading news and official information to the public.&nbsp; Today, town criers carry on the tradition of making public announcements.&nbsp;Opening the concert program, the talented musicians of our township’s Concert Band will perform The Star-Spangled Banner&nbsp;with Jefferson Township’s American Legion Post #423 Honor Guard present carrying the colors to represent the service of our Armed Forces. The talented township Jazz Band will follow performing music from The Great American Songbook&nbsp;featuring the talented voices of Richard Rossback and Verity (Sassy) Fox.&nbsp; Both bands will be conducted by Peter A. Tummillo, Jr.&nbsp;Noting the importance of the occasion, Mayor Eric Wilsusen will read a proclamation commemorating the United States’ 250th&nbsp;anniversary noting that this historic anniversary provides an opportunity for residents, community organizations, and local leaders to reflect upon Jefferson Township’s proud past, celebrate its present achievements, and look forward with optimism to its continued growth and prosperity.&nbsp;The Concert Band will continue its program with selections narrated by Jonathan Tummillo and Peter Tummillo. You’ll enjoy The Patriot, American Visions, The Blue and the Gray (songs of the Civil War), the march Americans We, A Copland Tribute, The Greatest Generation with narrator Stephan Naphets, highlights from A West Side Story, America the Beautiful, and the closing piece Stars and Stripes Forever.The Jefferson Township Community Concert Band was formed in 1992 under the direction of Tummillo, then Director of the Jefferson Township High School instrumental and marching bands.&nbsp; Because of interest, several members of the Community Band and others formed a Jazz Band around 2004, and Tummillo continues to direct the Concert Band in addition to the Jazz Band.The concert band operates under the umbrella of the Jefferson Arts Committee and performs a holiday concert at Christmas in the Village.&nbsp; In addition, they traditionally open the Arts Committee’s free summer gazebo concert series held at the township’s beautiful Victorian gazebo located in the Municipal complex on Weldon Road. This year, following a re-dedication of the Jefferson Township Gazebo marking its 25th&nbsp;anniversary, they will perform there on Friday evening, June 26 at 6:30 pm.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A Celebration of 250 years of Our American Heritage

Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church

The Jefferson Township Community Chorus under the direction of James Wynne will perform their FREE spring concert – The Musical World of Walt Disney - at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church in Lake Hopatcong on Sunday, May 17 at 4 pm. The church is located at 237 Espanong Road in Lake Hopatcong, and admission is free but free-will donations are welcomed. This concert is sure to be a hit with concert-goers of all generations, especially the children, who will, undoubtedly, like to sing along with many of the songs. Children are more than welcome to wear their Disney outfits, bring their Disney dolls/stuffed animals, etc.
The performance will feature a cavalcade of songs made famous through the films and animations of the Disney Corporation, including many classic Disney hits. The performance will also feature music that was made popular through Disney's acquisition of Pixar. Enjoy the beautiful musical program which includes “When You Wish Upon a Star” from Pinocchio, “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, and “I See the Light” from Tangled to name a few as well as a medley of villain-related songs!There will be many others sung beautifully by the talented chorus members that you will enjoy as well.
Formed in April of 2001 by the Jefferson Arts Committee, the Community Chorus has attracted many township adults, Jefferson Township High School students and alumni to its ranks over the years providing an opportunity to individuals who love to sing, are looking for a venue to sing with others, enjoy the challenge of learning new musical arrangements, and want to entertain the public. In August of 2018, Wynne was appointed as the Chorus Director/Accompanist with an extensive and impressive background having just recently retired as the Choral Music Director and Instructor of Music Technology at the Jefferson Township High School where he had worked since 1983. 
The Chorus rehearses 10 months out of the year from 7- 9 PM at the Jefferson Township High School Band Room and are always looking for new members -- tenors, basses, sopranos, and altos are welcome; and no audition or previous singing experience is required.

Jefferson's Community Chorus Takes You on a Disney Musical Journey

The Jefferson Arts Committee (JAC) will host its second Window Painting Contest for Jefferson Township students in grades 6 through 12 who are in district, out of district, or homeschooled.&nbsp; They will be accepting teams of 2 to 3 students in the established age brackets who are of the same age or mixed ages, and there is no fee to participate. The JAC will assign a teammate to any individual student who is interested. &nbsp;The date has been set for Saturday, May 23 starting at 10 am rain or shine (there is an overhang on the front of the building) at the Jefferson Township Public Library 1031 Weldon Road, Milton/Oak Ridge. &nbsp;&nbsp;The front library windows will be used for the competition, and teams will be assigned a window measuring 45” wide by 41” long.&nbsp; There is no set theme for a window creation, so students are encouraged to be creative in developing their own theme.&nbsp; However, all teams will be required to register with the JAC by April 26 and submit a design/sketch to be approved by the JAC by May 10.&nbsp;Teams will be supervised by JAC members or approved adult volunteers, and all supplies will be provided. Water-based acrylic paint in red, white, green, yellow, blue, black, magenta, turquoise, brown, orange, peach, and violet (participants can have fun mixing these basic colors to create others!), brushes, painters’ tape, and drop cloths, etc. will be provided by the JAC.&nbsp; &nbsp;Participants might want to bring some of their own thin-tip paint brushes, their own coverups to protect their clothing, and perhaps some plastic gloves.&nbsp;&nbsp;A small stepstool might be a good idea as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;All participants will be required to clean up their work area on the day of the event and return in the future to assist with removing the paint from their respective windows after the voting and awards.&nbsp;&nbsp;The community will be asked to vote for the winners of each student team at the library for their painted window canvases in pre-determined categories during a two-week period for voting. &nbsp;Prizes will be awarded accordingly for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd&nbsp;place for each of the three groups at a library ceremony when voting is complete.&nbsp;Anyone interested should email&nbsp;Linda at artscommittee@jeffersonarts.org&nbsp;with their name, address, phone number and email address or call Carol at 973-697-3828 to register if you don’t have access to email.&nbsp; Parents/guardians may email/call on behalf of their children if they prefer.&nbsp;&nbsp;To be sure there will be enough supplies, registrations will be accepted until April 26.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Donations to help cover expenses will gratefully be accepted and can be mailed to Jefferson Arts Committee, Window Decorating Contest, PO Box 2604, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.&nbsp;&nbsp;Any business owner wishing to donate any supplies would also be appreciated – call 973-697-3828 to discuss.&nbsp;&nbsp;There are quite a few “canvases” ready to be painted so gather up some friends and classmates to form those teams and be sure to register as soon as possible to be able to claim a window to paint.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Remember, you don’t have to be an artist to participate – just come and have fun because blank walls (in this case windows) are a shared canvas, and we’re all artists in our own way.

You’re Invited to Participate and/or Visit the JAC Photography Exhibit!
The Jefferson Arts Committee (JAC) will be hosting their 2nd annual photography exhibit displaying the photography of local adults (18+). New this year, there is a category for students 17 and younger, giving them an opportunity to display their talent and offering the public a chance to enjoy their work as well. The three-day exhibit will be held at the White Rock Lake Park’s Clubhouse (known to many as The Pavilion), 42 White Rock Boulevard in the Milton/Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township.
There will be an opening Meet-the-Artist reception on Thursday, June 11 from 7pm to 9pm where the public can meet the photographers, view their work, and enjoy some snacks and beverages while listening to the music of guitarist John Hargreaves.
Additional dates for public viewing are Friday, June 12 from 4pm to 8pm and Saturday, June 13 from 12 noon to 4pm at the White Rock Lake Park’s Clubhouse. Admission and parking are free on all dates.
Please observe all parking signs on the clubhouse property and surrounding areas; and when parking on the neighborhood streets, do not block residential driveways. The gate on the property will be open so vehicles can also park on the grassy areas unless signage indicates otherwise.
