7 Republicans Vie for 3 Seats in Morris County Freeholder Primary

Trio of incumbents who ran on same ticket in 2012 split for new campaign.

The Republican Party will have plenty of options in Morris County to choose a freeholder candidate in the June Primary Election.

A total of seven candidates tossed their respective hats into the ring before Monday’s deadline to file a petition for the Primary ballot, all vying for three open seats.

Those seats belong to incumbents John Krickus of Washington Township, John Cesaro of Parsippany, and David Scapicchio of Flanders. The trio ran on the same ticket in 2012 to win the November Election, but in 2015, Cesaro has split-off and created his own ticket.

That new trio includes Christine Meyers, of Mendham, and Angelo Tedesco, of East Hanover. Thomas Mulligan, of Rockaway, has also filed to run for a seat.

Krickus and Scapicchio joined forces with Denville councilwoman Deborah Smith to round out their ticket.
