Aerial Mosquito Spraying Tuesday Will Likely Impact Parts of Morris

Aerial spraying along flooded areas of the Passaic, Rockaway and Whippany rivers to control mosquitos is scheduled for Tuesday morning and may impact several Morris County towns.

The Morris County Division of Mosquito Control announced Monday it is partnering with the New Jersey Office of Mosquito Control Coordination and will begin helicopter spraying at 7 a.m. Tuesday, directed toward “confirmed and otherwise inaccessible mosquito populations that have the potential to create the major public nuisance or pose a threat to human and animal health,” according to a statement released by the county.

Morris towns expected to be impacted by the spraying include Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, East Hanover, Florham Park, Hanover, Lincoln Park, Montville, Parsippany, and possibly Long Hill Township. 

Recent heavy rainfalls have created atmospheres conducive to breeding grounds for mosquitos and spraying is intended to treat the insect’s larvae before it hits adulthood.
