14U Lightning Opening Game

The 14U lightning team battled Montville in the home opener. The game was played in Montville because for some reason the Jefferson fields remain closed for baseball. The starting pitcher Victor Schiavo srtuckout 6 montville batters in 4 innings. This game came down to who was going to make the least mistakes in the field. Jefferson fell behind by two runs in the 2nd inning and eventually lost by the score of 6-2. Coach Borbely said he felt the team was a little rusty from not practicing on the fields, but is sure the bats and the defense will be better next game. Wyatt Wiegman pitched the last three innings and Zach Shephard with a RBI single and a few nice plays at second base.
