Busy Mama, Happy Mama: Change the clocks!
As a working parent, I try to utilize every minute of the day. And I mean every minute. So how could I forget to change the clocks this weekend?

As a working parent, I try to utilize every minute of the day. And I mean every minute. Multi-tasking was always something that came somewhat naturally to me, but after having my daughter a year and a half ago, I've got it down to a fine art.
I also am known to be a creature of habit. I thrive on routine. Some say that they can set their clocks according to what stage of my daily routine I'm in.
Speaking of setting clocks...brings me to today's post.

Despite hearing countless reminders about Daylight Savings Time all week, I had a hectic weekend (as usual), and just plum forgot about changing the clocks back. Fall back. Gain an hour. You'd think for me, a busy mother, I'd relish in the fact that I was able to gain a whole hour in a day!
I woke up to the sound of my toddler yelling, "Mickey Mouse!" from her crib in her room. I rolled over, took a look at the clock, and...5 am?! What?! This couldn't be. Doesn't she know she can't get up before 6 am? Doesn't she know that Mommy has not had time to put the coffee on yet? But alas, that sweet little voice does not know that the time has changed. And technically, I can't be mad, because to her, it's still 6 am. And that's her regular wake up time. So, we're alright.

As the day progressed, it got more confusing. We were really hungry for lunch way too early, nap times were off, and the early bedtime seemed like a blessing in disguise for my husband and I. And even as I sit here and update my blog an hour before I normally do, I find my eyes to feel heavy and my pillow that I see across the room looks ever-so-fluffy and wonderful.
It's funny how just changing the clocks one hour can really have an effect on people...especially kids.
Needless to say, I programmed the coffee pot before bed tonight.
