Saint Clare’s Women’s Health Center Designated as Center of Excellence

Honor comes from the American College of Radiology.

In the latest affirmation of the hospital's quality of care, Saint Clare’s Health System’s Women’s Health Center has been re-designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The prestigious award recognizes Saint Clare’s as a premier provider of comprehensive breast imaging services.

In order to receive the ACR’s Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation, a center must be fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Those accreditations reflect the results of peer-review evaluations by experts, which determined that Saint Clare’s has achieved high practice standards in image quality, the qualifications of its personnel, and the hospital's equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

Saint Clare’s received this original designation in 2006 and continues to maintain it through the renewed accreditation of the Women’s Health Center.

“The Women’s Health Center at Saint Clare’s is proud to be recognized for meeting the highest standards of the radiology profession,” said Dr. Burton Sutker, Breast Imaging Section Head at Saint Clare’s Health System. “Through our comprehensive services – whether mammography, ultrasound or biopsy–our patients can be confident they are receiving safe, accurate and effective care.”

At the Women’s Health Center, it's easy to arrange state-of-the-art screening and diagnostic mammograms as part of convenient, comprehensive breast health services. With convenient locations at our hospitals in Dover and Sussex, as well as our Imaging Center at Parsippany Commons, Saint Clare’s provides coordinated multidisciplinary screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care at a single location, utilizing the most advanced imaging and minimally-invasive techniques for the diagnosis of benign and malignant breast disease.

Additionally, Saint Clare’s offers two on-site certified Breast Health Navigators, who are specialized nurses who assist women in facilitating timely tests and treatment as needed for breast care as well as providing emotional support and educational resources.
