The historical context of the story may lead you to think that the experience of immigrants such as Ciro and Enza is a matter of history. Yet Ciro’s and Enza’s experience is repeated each time a person leaves their native land in search of a better life in another country.
Where’s the best place to read this book? This is a book that should be read while visiting Ellis Island. Make sure you bring a picnic basket filled with lots of Italian pastries. And take some time to quietly gaze at the Statue of Liberty.
