Cozy Lake School Prepares to Celebrate the Day of Peace
Jefferson elementary students will learn a special message as they mark the Saturday event observed worldwide each year.
The International Day of Peace is held worldwide on Saturday, but Jefferson's Cozy Lake School will observe the event on Monday.
From 9:20-11:45 a.m. and 12:45-2:20 p.m., the school will host a myriad of activities, including yoga and creating pinwheel art, to promote peace, as Cozy Lake does each year.
"The messsage of peace and students learning its meaning is so important to all aspects of life," school counselor Jenny Markowick said.
A brief opening ceremony at the school will start the special day at 8:50 a.m.
In the event of inclement weather, Cozy Lake School's Peace Day observance will be moved to Sept. 30.
