Drunk Woman Crashed Car, Then Hit Cop, Jefferson Police Say

Police say the woman was leaving the police station when she hit the officer.

JEFFERSON, NJ — A Mount Arlington woman is accused of getting into a drunk car crash and then hitting a police officer, Jefferson police said.

Sarah Jacoby, 27, of Mt. Arlington, is accused of crashing her car into the woods on Lower BVR on Jan. 16, police say. She was arrested on the suspicion of being drunk behind the wheel, and was given several breath tests, which police say she failed.

Police say Jacoby became "combative" while being escorted out of police headquarters, and is accused of striking a police officer. She was arrested again, and processed on aggravated assault on a police officer charges, police said.

In addition to the aggravated assault charges, police say Jacoby was issued summons for operating under the influence of liquor, reckless driving, open container, failure to possess an insurance card, failure to possess a drivers license, failure to possess registration, tire equipment, consent to take breath samples, refusal to submit to chemical test, unsafe lane change, careless driving, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.
