New Karate Classes scheduled at Camp Jefferson

New Karate classes begin in February at Camp Jefferson

The Jefferson Township Recreation Department’s Karate Program will begin its next 10-week session on Monday, February 28th and continue through Monday, May 10, 2011.  There will be no class held on Monday, April 4 because Jefferson schools will be closed for spring break. The program is open to school age children ages Kindergarten and up as well as adults.

This on-going program has been running for nine years through the Recreation Department with instructors from the Jersey Judo Karate Academy of Kenvil teaching the Isshinryu style of Karate.  The skills learned help students develop coordination, balance, posture, and endurance. Students also gain self-confidence and discipline through progression in karate, while studying the authentic form of Asian Martial Arts. Jersey Judo Karate Academy is run by Sensei Rick Norris, a Hachi-Dan (8th degree black belt), and the Academy’s staff includes over 50 certified, fully trained black belts.
