GOP Officials Make Freeholder Endorsement, Say Unions 'Disrupting' Primary
State senator, assemblyman, county chairman weigh in on heated Republican Primary race.

In what has been a very heated Primary Election campaign trail, pitting incumbents and challengers against each other in the race for three seats on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders, some of the area’s top Republicans have officially weighed in.
Claiming Democrat-backed union dollars were supporting one trio of candidates and “disrupting” the Primary, State Senator Tony Bucco, Assemblyman Anthony Bucco, and Morris County Republican Committee Chairman John Sette have all endorsed the team of John Krickus (Washington Township), David Scapicchio (Flanders), and Debra Smith (Denville), who call themselves the Morris Conservative Team.
Krickus and Scapicchio, incumbents who joined with Smith, are facing another trio in John Cesaro (Incumbent, Parsippany), Angelo Tedesco (East Hanover), and Christine Myers (Mendham Township).

“Down in Trenton we’re fighting with Governor Christie to end years of reckless Democrat over-spending, borrowing, and runaway tax increases. Back home, we need strong fiscal conservatives like John Krickus, Dave Scapicchio and Deb Smith on the Freeholder Board who are committed to fighting for balanced budgets without higher taxes, reducing debt and keeping Morris County a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said State Senator Tony Bucco in a statement. “They are the real conservative team in this race, and that’s why we need them to continue working for taxpayers.”
“Unfortunately, Democrat special interests are meddling in our Republican Primary trying to achieve something they can’t do in a general election,” said Sette in the statement. “When a political group registered with the state of New Jersey as a ‘Democrat’ organization empties its bank account with an $8,400 donation in a Republican Primary, it raises some serious questions about the commitment of the Cesaro team to our Republican principles. Combine that with mailers, phone calls, and paid walkers funded with tens of thousands of dollars in dark money - where we have no idea who is writing the checks to these organizations - it’s not only skirting the spirit of pay to play ethics laws and good government, it’s also clear they aren’t doing it because they’re backing the strongest Republican candidates. That distinction goes to the Conservative Team of Krickus, Scapicchio and Smith because they have a proven record of fighting for taxpayers. I’m happy to stand with them in next Tuesday’s primary election.”

While each trio is running as a team, votes are counted for each candidate individually in the Primary Election.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2 in Morris County.
“I’m proud to endorse John Krickus, Dave Scapicchio and Deb Smith, because they are doing the things in Morris County that we can all be proud of – holding the line on property taxes and cutting wasteful spending, all while improving services. That’s the kind of Republican leadership we need to keep Morris County moving in the right direction,” said Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco in the statement.
