Jefferson Mayor Announces Roadwork, Bridge, Park Project Updates

Jefferson's mayor shared updates on road paving, bridge construction, water improvements and recreation projects.

JEFFERSON, NJ — Road improvements, bridge construction and park upgrades are among the projects highlighted in Jefferson Township Mayor Eric F. Wilsusen's newly released fall message.

In his Fall 2026 Mayor's Message, Wilsusen outlined ongoing infrastructure improvements and projects planned for the coming months.

Road paving has been a major focus, with work completed on Milton Road, Manor Drive, Lakeview Court, part of Wegman Way, Scenic Drive, Chabon Court and Algonquin Trail. Chabon Court was paved for the first time, while Algonquin Trail received new pavement following water main improvements.

However, paving on portions of North Cherry Road, Ledge Road and Orchard Drive has been delayed until next year because additional drainage improvements are needed.

The township also received a $328,000 state grant toward milling and paving Weldon Road.

“After many months of pleading, NJ DOT paved the northbound lane of Route 181!” Wilsusen said.

Meanwhile, the Three Rivers Bridge replacement remains on schedule, with completion anticipated by December.

Another major project involves a $3.2 million PFAS filtration system at the Moosepac wells in Oak Ridge. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027, with completion anticipated by the end of January 2028.

Recreation improvements are also underway.

Construction on Brady Park's parking lot is expected to begin this fall, adding parking spaces and improving the lot's configuration.

At Mitchko Mountain Recreation Area, approximately two additional miles of improved trails have been completed, and the disc golf course is playable.

Wilsusen encouraged residents to read the township's upcoming Fall/Winter Newsletter for additional information.

"Enjoy the fall season, and I hope to see you around town," Wilsusen said.
