Jefferson Schools Push For State Funding Roundtable As Aid Cuts Grow

The district is asking residents to urge state education officials to bring a school funding roundtable to Jefferson.

JEFFERSON, NJ — Jefferson Township Public Schools is calling on the community for help getting state leaders to hear its school funding concerns locally.

The district said in its latest advocacy push that cumulative aid cuts have exceeded $11 million since 2018. It is asking the New Jersey Department of Education to hold a regional school funding roundtable in Jefferson.

The district also pointed to Highlands preservation limits as another challenge facing Jefferson.

“Every student in NJ deserves to be heard,” the district said. “Jefferson deserves fair representation,” the district added.

Residents are being encouraged to contact the state’s School Funding Outreach Task Force and request a local roundtable.
