Local Jefferson Football players Shine at USA Camp

This past week, USA Development Football games were held in Canton OH for the Middle School players going into 7th, 8th and 9th grade. USA invited top players from all over the country to participate in these development games. Players arrived on Tuesday July 11, upon arrival these players go through a rigorous training over the next 5 days, during this time players practice twice a day with a Jamboree on Thursday night and the final game on Saturday. Players are provided High level of training from Colleges coaches throughout the week. ( Rutgers and West Virginia to name a few that were in attendance) Players are evaluated by the USA staff, during these evaluations the players have an opportunity to earn awards, starting positions, and ultimately to be chosen for the International bowl in February 2017.

Justin Eisele #53, Peter Delaportes #16 and Michael Gould #49 from Jefferson were chosen by USA Football for this past weekend’s games. Peter Delaportes #16 a 7th grader this upcoming season, had a great week in OH. Peter Delaportes #16 QB lead the USA Red team by throwing a 22 yard TD for the first Touchdown of the game. Another 7th grader, Justin Eisele #53 Defensive End was chosen by the coaches to hold the USA Flag before the game for being the “hardest worker and best character” during the week. Justin Eisele #53 helped lead the USA Defense in only allowing 4 first downs. Peter and Justin Eisele USA RED team won 21-2 Over the USA White Team in the 9am game. Mike Gould another Jefferson player who will be an 8th grader for this upcoming season, is another player that earned recognition during this past week. Mike Gould #49 was chosen Captain for the USA Red team in the 10:30am Game. Mike Gould #49 game ending interception sealed the victory for USA Red 21-7 over USA Blue.
