Morris Votes: Lyon Re-Elected as Freeholder, Pecoraro as Surrogate

Congressmen Frelinghuysen and Lance both re-elected thanks to huge margins in Morris County.

County races weren’t all that chaotic in Tuesday’s election, which saw two Republican incumbents gain re-election to their respective seats.

William β€œHank” Lyon of Montville tallied 63,904 votes, beating out Democrat Matthew Davis, who garnered an even 38,000 votes. Lyon will begin serving his second term on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders Jan. 1, 2015.

Pecoraro had a similar outcome, receiving 65,725 votes to Democrat George Tannous’ 36,505 votes for Morris County Surrogate.

At the federal level, towns represented by Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen supported their representative, giving the 10-term 11th District politician 55,204 votes and his challenger, Mark Dunec, just 27,844 votes.

Frelinghuysen’s colleague, Leonard Lance, who represents a handful of towns in Morris County as part of New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, received 14,904 votes, beating out challengers Janice Kovach (Democrat, 8,333 votes), and James Gawron (Libertarian, 373 votes).

Both Frelinghuysen and Lance were re-elected to their districts Tuesday.
