Oak Ridge, NJ Resident Joins The Lustgarten Foundation and Cablevision's curePC Campaign in Recognition of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

This November, Oak Ridge, NJ resident Kelly Mauger will participate in the curePC Courage Project, a video series of moving stories in tribute to those impacted by pancreatic cancer, created by The Lustgarten Foundation and Cablevision Systems Corporation to mark Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

curePC is the award-winning public awareness campaign created by Cablevision, a leading media and telecommunications company, and The Lustgarten Foundation, the nation’s largest nonprofit funder of pancreatic cancer research. The campaign raises awareness of the urgent fight against pancreatic cancer, America’s most lethal cancer. Due to the support of Cablevision, 100 percent of every dollar donated to The Lustgarten Foundation goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.

Kelly lost her father, Frank, in October 2013, after an 11-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was only 57 years old. After complaining of back pain, he learned he had the disease, and was given only three to six months to live. Frank fought the disease long enough to attend Kelly’s wedding seven months later, but sadly passed away shortly thereafter. To honor her father, Kelly participates in The Lustgarten Foundation’s walks and shares her story on the curePC blog.

“Before my father’s diagnosis, I was aware of pancreatic cancer, but I didn’t comprehend its severity until I watched my father battle this devastating disease,” said Kelly Mauger. “My family wanted to help raise awareness about the disease and the need for more research. With my participation in the curePC Courage Project, I feel like my dad is looking down and smiling, knowing his story is out there and making a difference in some way.”
