Prosecutor: $90K Worth of Xanax, Pot Seized in Morris County Drug Bust

Six alleged drug traffickers from Texas and New York were arrested this week in a Roxbury Township motel when law enforcement found them to be in possession of 2,000 Xanax pills and 15 pounds of marijuana, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp announced.

Roxburty Township Police received information that a group of individuals were importing illegal narcotics into Morris County from Texas, Knapp said. Police “intercepted” the group at the motel, where drug seizures and arrests were made.

In addition to the drugs, more than $2,000 cash and a Land Rover were also seized. The street value of the narcotics was estimated at $90,000.

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

Timothy Wayne Simmons, age 35, of Houston, Texas, was charged with the following:

• 1 count of fourth-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana)
• 1 count of second-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) with the intent to distribute
• 1 count of second-degree Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana)
• Bail set at $150,000, no 10-percent option.

Cynthia Espinoza Golden, age 41 of Houston, Texas, was charged with the following:

• 1 count of fourth-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana)
• 1 count of second-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) with the intent to distribute
• 1 count of second-degree Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance
• 1 count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree Possession with the intent to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree Conspiracy to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• Bail set at $125,000, no 10 percent option.

Christian Sky Chudleigh, age 38 of Houston, Texas, was charged with the following:

• 1 count of fourth-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana)
• 1 count of second-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) with the intent to distribute
• 1 count of second-degree Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance
• 1 count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree Possession with the intent to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree Conspiracy to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• Bail set at $175,000, no 10 percent option.

Esteban Gomez, age 22 of Brooklyn, New York, was charged with the following:

• 1 count of fourth-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana)
• 1 count of second-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) with the intent to distribute
• 1 count of second-degree Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance
• 1 count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree Possession with the intent to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree conspiracy to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• Bail set at $125,000, no 10 percent option.

Skylar Armando Ortiz, age 22 of Brooklyn, New York, was charged with the following:

• 1 count of fourth-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana)
• 1 count of second-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) with the intent to distribute
• 1 count of second-degree Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance
• 1 count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree Possession with the intent to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree Conspiracy to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• Bail set at $125,000, no 10 percent option.

Matthew David Ortega, age 24 of El Paso, Texas, was charged with the following:

• 1 count of fourth-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana)
• 1 count of second-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) with the intent to distribute
• 1 count of second-degree Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance
• 1 count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree Possession with the intent to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• 1 count of third-degree conspiracy to distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Xanax)
• Bail set at $150,000, no 10 percent option.

All six have been remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility.
