Prosecutor: Assistant Principal 'Sexually Touched' Victim, 15, in Morris County

Alleged crimes occurred when administrator had legal supervision rights over victim during 17-month period, authorities say.

A Roxbury High School administrator has been jailed and charged with sexually touching a 15-year-old while he lived part time at the teen’s home over the course of 17 months, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp announced.

Roger Schneider, 55, of Rockaway Township, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact. Schneider is the assistant principal at Roxbury High School.

Schneider’s alleged victim, whose name and gender were not released by the prosecutor, told a third party that Schneider had sexually touched the teen, Knapp said. Schneider was then interviewed on April 24, and admitted committing “acts of contact” upon the teen’s “intimate parts,” Knapp said.

A follow up interview with the teen disclosed acts of sexual contact between Schneider’s hand and the teen’s genitals, Knapp said.

The acts occurred sometime between August 2013 and January 2015, when Schneider was living at the teen’s family’s home part-time, Knapp said. While the teen is not a student in the Roxbury School District, Schneider was acting in loco parentis, or having legal responsibility of a child, and was consented to by the alleged victim’s parents, Knapp said.

Schneider was arrested on April 25 and jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

Schneider’s name has since been removed from the Roxbury High School’s administrative staff page.
