Prospect Point Park Improvements Reach A Turning Point

JEFFERSON, NJ — A nearly $192,500 contract for improvements at Prospect Point Park is headed to a Township Council vote Wednesday.

The council will consider awarding the $192,404.05 contract to Riverview Paving Inc. of Hackettstown, according to the meeting agenda. The company submitted the lowest responsible bid, coming in 10.8 percent below the township engineer’s estimate.

The bid notice says the project includes asphalt paving, drainage work, a retaining wall, fencing and a gate. Plans also call for curbing, signs, pavement markings, topsoil, seeding and other site work.

For Jefferson residents, the project would upgrade the park at a price below the engineer’s estimate. The agenda does not specify when construction would begin or whether the work would limit public access.

The township received bids August 20, and the engineer recommended awarding the contract in an August 24 letter. Funding would come from four capital accounts listed in the resolution.
