Rockaway Twp., Mall Agree to Put Cops Back on Shopping Center Patrol
Contract will see about $2 million paid to township over next five years, report says.
Rockaway Townsquare Mall will pay the township some $2 million over the next five years to have local police patrol the shopping center after an agreement between both sides was reached recently.
According to dailyrecord.com, the agreement was reached at the townshipβs committee meeting Tuesday night. The mall has been without Rockaway Township police security since December.
Original negotiations between the two sides had the mall ownership seeking a month-to-month contract with the township police, but Mayor Michael Dachisen said it wouldnβt work because of the type of schedule officers work, the report said.
