On Saturday 6/29, the Saffin Pond Swim Team kicked off the start of the 2013 NJRLL season with a 207 to 235 loss against Shongum Lake. The Pioneers proved to be formidable opponents, despite being newly integrated into the North Jersey Regional Lake League this year. The two teams were neck and neck for most of the meet, with Shongum Lake only taking the win during the final relay events.

Head Coach Eddie Zappile, and assistant coach Connor Mastricola had team members brave still chilly waters and continued weather delays during daily practices, in an effort to prepare for the teams' first meet. The hard work and dedication paid off for the swimmers, as is evident by the impressive wins in many of their events. Congratulations to the Pioneer Swimmers who placed in their events.
