Stalking Charge Upheld for Morris County Man Who Allegedly Threatened Jim Breuer
Comedian and defendant were once friends before online comments went too far, report says.

Nine months after an indictment charged a Mine Hill man on several counts of stalking comedian Jim Breuer, a Superior Court Judge upheld the decision despite the defendant’s motion to dismiss.
Giuseppe Ionfrida, 46, of Mine Hill, was charged with stalking Breuer, of Chester Township, filing a false police report against the entertainer, stalking him again after being ordered to have no contact with the comedian, and two counts of contempt of a protective order that barred contact with Breuer, according to dailyrecord.com.
The issues began in 2009 when Breuer was on the Opie & Anthony radio show, and made jokes about Ionfrida, albeit not by name, the report said. Years later, those radio bits were posted to YouTube, which resulted in Ionfrida allegedly using a fake screen name to write derogatory comments about Breuer and his family below the videos.

When Chester Township police got involved, per Breuer’s request, the comedian was mailed a box of condoms from a location near Ionfrida’s Randolph pizza shop, the report said. Ionfrida then reported to police that Breuer left the businessman a threatening note, only to have it discovered the note was actually written by Ionfrida himself, the report said.
Despite charges and a court order to leave Breuer alone, Ionfrida allegedly posted Breuer’s address and cell phone number to the public YouTube comments, the report said.

While upholding the indictment means the case could go to trial, the judge recommended plea negotiations continue, the report said.
