State Police Searching for Hit-And-Run Boater in Morris County

Two passengers injured on Lake Hopatcong Saturday night, police report.

Two people were injured and one boat heavily damaged Saturday night when a boater allegedly motored his way into another vessel, New Jersey State Police said.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 22 around 10 p.m. when the operator of the suspect vehicle struck another boat and fled the location without stopping, State Police said.

The collision caused “extensive damage” to the victim’s boat and also injured two of the five passengers, police said. The victims were treated for minor injuries, police said.

The vessel was described as a large, white cabin boat with aluminum prop and likely has damage to the hull and damage to the prop, police said. The incident occurred on the Jefferson Township side of Lake Hopatcong at Woodport Cove in the area of Mason Street Pub.
