Township Of Jefferson: Last Chance To See Exhibit At Township Museum

The Jefferson Township Museum (The George Chamberlain House) will be open Sunday, August 1,2021 from 1-4PM. This will be the last opportunity to see the featured exhibit “Victorian Dress from Head to Toe” This exhibit being presented by the Society’s costume department will be packed away after Sunday. Vintage pieces from the Museum and private collections, along with reproductions of the late Victorian period (1870-1900) and up to 1920, are displayed throughout the building. Each room of the Museum features a different part of dressing the Victorian family. Gowns, outer wear, accessories, undergarments and lingerie are displayed throughout the building. Many special pieces have been taken from archival storage for this exhibit. Informational signage will address many of the myths of Victorian clothing. This is an exhibit not to miss!

Period dressed docents and guides will be available to help visitors through the exhibit. Miss Elizabeth’s Garden is labeled for self-guided tours. Miss Elizabeth’s Shoppe in the original kitchen will also be open during these hours to offer vintage and new items for sale. Specials this month are homemade blueberry jam and local honey. Also featured is a new cookbook of vintage recipes for today’s kitchen and lovely stories about Miss Elizabeth.
The Museum is located on 315 Dover-Milton Road in the Historic Milton Village section of Jefferson Township.
