Two Killed In Jefferson Head-On Car Crash: Police

A mother and daughter died in a Wednesday afternoon car crash, police said.

JEFFERSON, NJ — A head-on collision in Jefferson Township left two dead on Wednesday afternoon, Jefferson Township Police said.

Alicia Montello, 25, and her mother, Darlene Gindhart, both of Stockholm, were pronounced dead at the scene after their car was struck head-on around 4:30 p.m., Jefferson Detective Joseph Kratzel said.

Scott Breitz, 21, of Jefferson, was traveling west on Berkshire Valley Road near Solar and Taylor roads when he struck the car driven by Montello head-on, Kratzel said. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash closed the roadway for more than three hours and is still under investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact Traffic Safety Officer Roger David at 973-697-1300.

Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Jefferson Township Fire Co. #1 and 2, the Milton First Aid Squad all assisted the Jefferson Township Police Department.
