We Love Our Seniors

Looking for volunteers to assist homebound and partially disabled persons to help with their budgeting and bill paying.

Join this volunteer senior program called Senior Cents and help our Morris County community.

Senior Cents is a one-of-a- kind money management opportunity for volunteers to assist isolated and/or temporarily disabled seniors who can benefit from a visitor to help organize paperwork, develop a budget and facilitate payment of monthly bills, by providing hands-on, direct assistance. This involves opening mail, reviewing bills, and balancing the checkbook, among other tasks. Just by their presence, Senior Cents volunteers also aid local citizens by offering socialization to those living alone or alone much of the time.

Senior Cents is a program of RSVP Volunteer Resource Center, sponsored by NORWESCAP, and matches clients with a trained volunteer who then assists with the above tasks, twice monthly. Clients in this program maintain control over all decisions regarding their funds and financial plans. They benefit by keeping themselves independent and in their homes as long as possible. Volunteers do not assist with debt management or credit counseling.

A potential Senior Cents volunteer needs to be a compassionate individual, responsible and patient with strong budgeting, organizational and advocacy skills.

Clients needing assistance and who believe they would like to join Senior Cents and reap the benefits of a volunteer to assist them, need to be age 60 or older, and able to manage the major activities of daily living on their own.

To obtain registration details as a volunteer or a client, or more information about Senior Cents, call Skylands RSVP at 888-387-9830 ext. 202, or email to rsvp@norwescap.org
