Jefferson Family Loses Everything In Fire, Fundraiser Gains Traction

So far, $20,000 had been raised for the family that lost everything, including their pets.

JEFFERSON, NJ— A Jefferson home went up in flames this weekend, destroying everything and killing the family's three pets. A GoFundMe set up to help the family has raised over $20,000 in just 20 hours.

The Graham family's Lake Shawnee home caught fire just before 5 a.m. on Saturday.

The home was engulfed, but the family of four adults and three children made it out safely. Unfortunately, they lost all of their possessions and their three pets: a dog, lizard, and bunny.

So far, $20,000 of the GoFundMe's $50,000 goal has been raised. (You can click here to donate.)

This is not the first time the Graham family home has been damaged; it was also destroyed during Superstorm Sandy, the Hopatcong Fire Department said.

The fire was under control by 9 a.m. Although the cause is still under investigation, it appeared to stem from a wood burning stove.

Jefferson Township Fire Company 1 and 2, Jefferson Rescue Squad, Mt. Arlington Fire, Sparta Fire, Roxbury Fire, Randolph Fire and Picatinny Fire all responded to the scene.
