NJ Transit Driver Shoots, Critically Injures Teen, Officials Say

The driver, Charles Fieros faces criminal charges after the Jersey City shooting Saturday, officials said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A NJ Transit bus driver shot at three teens with a stolen gun, left a 15-year-old critically injured, and now faces criminal charges, according to the Jersey City Mayor's office.

Charles Fieros, 48, shot at the teenagers — who he says attacked him — near Monticello and Jewett avenues just before 9:50 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release issued by the Mayor's office.

Patch reached out to NJ Transit but officials did not have a comment. A call to Jersey City police was not immediately returned.

The 15-year-old arrived in a taxi at a local hospital in critical but stable condition with three gunshot wounds in his abdomen, officials said.

Fieros suffered head and face injuries from the initial assault, according to officials. He was treated at a hospital before being taken into custody.

Fieros, of Staten Island, faces multiple charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault, NJ.com reports.
