2 Men Charged In Fatal Shooting In Jersey City: Prosecutors

Two men have been charged in a recent double shooting in Jersey City that left a 24-year-old man dead, prosecutors said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Two men have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Jersey City in April.

Nyzir Wilson, 23, of Jersey City, has been charged with attempted murder, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

He and Stephon Murphy, 23, of Jersey City, were charged with: Robbery, conspiracy to commit burglary, and weapons offenses, prosecutors said.

Both are being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, prosecutors said.

Shortly after 12:40 a.m. on April 30, the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Audubon Avenue and College Street. Police discovered an "extensive crime scene," they said.

David Jones, 24, of Jersey City was found at 1 College Street with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:35 a.m., prosecutors said.

Nyzir Wilson, who was charged this week, was also shot in an "upper extremity" and was treated at Jersey City Medical Center.
