JERSEY CITY, NJ — Two firefighters and a resident were injured in a smoky apartment fire in Jersey City on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The Jersey City Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire at 121 Franklin St., officials said.
The fire was quickly extinguished, but had spread to 119 Franklin St., said public safety spokeswoman Kim Wallace-Scalcione.
One woman was treated by emergency workers at the scene for smoke inhalation, she said. Two firefighters were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, one for debris near the eyes and another for burns to the back of his neck.
The City's Office of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross are assisting three residents who were left homeless, she said.
