Celebrating Labor Day and the power of Healthcare Labor Unions
Protecting the professionals who care for your loved ones
Celebrating the power of American Labor Unions is still as important to workers today as it was in 1882, when the first Labor Day rally was held in New York City to bring attention to the need for a 40-hour work week.
Over the past century the numbers and types of union jobs have changed dramatically. However, the need for unions to protect workers is even greater as more employers focus on the bottom line and put the needs of workers on the back burner.
This is becoming more obvious in the healthcare arena where nurses and techs advocate for their patients every day. But, who fights for the needs of these dedicated healthcare professionals who serve your loved ones?

JNESO, the Professional Healthcare Union, has had the privilege to stand behind our members for 60 years.
Unions provide a unified voice to make sure healthcare workers aren’t taken advantage of, that overtime rules are followed, and that everyone has safe working conditions.

Unions help our members achieve the same things that every American wants: a voice and fairness.
Unions also support the greater good.
In fact, JNESO has steadfastly fought for patient safety, and along with other unions, are actively pushing for the passage of legislation that would require Safe Nurse-to-Patient Staffing Ratios in healthcare facilities across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Better nurse-to-patient care ratios have been proven to reduce patient mortality, increase safety, reduce nurse burnout and improve the quality of care.
So, this Labor Day, show your support for the healthcare professionals and the unions that stand by them, and tell your local legislators to support Safe Nurse-to-Patient Staffing Ratios in the Garden State and the Keystone State.
JNESO, the professional healthcare union, serves more than 5,000 healthcare professionals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
