Jersey City Man Charged With Murder In Light Rail Station Slaying

The man was arrested Saturday in connection with a stabbing at Danforth Avenue station, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 37-year-old Jersey City man was arrested and charged with murder Saturday in connection with a fatal stabbing at the Jersey City Light Rail station at Danforth Avenue, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Anthony Bell is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a news release.

Kenneth Brown, 49, was stabbed at the Danforth Avenue station at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday and died an hour later at Jersey City Medical Center. Bell was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Brown's official cause of death is being determined by the Regional Medical Examiner's Office.

Brown's death came just days after Hudson County reported its first homicide of 2022. A 32-year-old man was fatally shot in Jersey City on Jan. 23.
