2 Get DWIs For Lacey Crashes; 1 Strikes Cop Car: Police
A Barnegat man struck a police vehicle while they were stuck in traffic, according to authorities.
LACEY, NJ — Two people charged with drunk driving caused separate accidents in Lacey last weekend, according to police. One hit a police vehicle, authorities said.
Patel A. Prashant, 44, of Barnegat, struck a police vehicle from the rear while they were stuck in traffic Saturday night on Trenton Avenue, authorities said.
Officer Julie Barcalow found Prashant to be under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with DUI and released on summonses for driving while intoxicated and reckless and careless driving, police said.

On Sunday evening, Lacey police responded to a single-car accident on Manchester Avenue near Adams Street. Police found Shaun A. Ackerman, the driver, to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. He also had marijuana, according to authorities.
Ackerman, 40, of Forked River, was charged with DUI, police said. He was released on summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and drug possession in a motor vehicle, authorities said.
