4 New Police Officers Hired In Lacey
Four new officers are joining the police force, including the third full-time female police officer in department history.

LACEY, NJ — The Lacey Township Police Department announced the hiring of four new officers.
The officers, John R. Labbate, Daniel A. Primavera, Nicole R. Tamburro and Timothy R. Swain, were sworn at the Aug. 11 Lacey Township Committee meeting.
Labbate, 37, is a Lacey resident who is married with three children, Chief Michael C. DiBella said on Facebook. Labbate graduated from Toms River High School North in 2004 and attended both Ocean County College and Montclair State University, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. The same year, he was hired as a Class 1 Special Law Enforcement Officer for the Seaside Park Police Department, DiBella said. He has worked for the New Jersey State Department of Corrections as a Correctional Police Officer since 2015.

Primavera, 34, is a Lacey resident who is engaged with two children, DiBella said. He graduated from Secaucus High School in 2006 and attended Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Florida, where he was certified as a Master Level Harley Davidson Technician, DiBella said. Primavera was hired by the Brick Township Police Department as a Class 1 Special Law Enforcement Officer in 2016. In 2019, he was hired by the South Toms River Police Department and attended the Ocean County Police Academy, DiBella said.
Tamburro, 26, is the third full-time female police officer in department history, DiBella said. She graduated from Lacey Township High School in 2014 and joined the National Guard, where she remains an active reservist, DiBella said. She joined the Seaside Heights Police Department as a Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer and attended the Ocean County Police Academy in 2017, he said. Since 2018, she has been working as an investigator in the Ocean County Sheriff's Department's Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

Swain, 23, graduated from Lacey Township High School in 2017, where he was an Eagle Scout, DiBella said. In the last two years of high school, he attended the Law and Public Safety Program (ALPS) at the Ocean County Training Center in Waretown through Ocean County's Vo-Tech program, DiBella said. Swain was hired by the Lacey Township Police Department as a Class I Special Law Enforcement Officer and attended the Ocean County Police Academy to obtain his Class II Certification in 2017, DiBella said. Swain also joined the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of sergeant, where he remains as an active reservist. He worked as an investigator with the Ocean County Sheriff's Department for the past year, DiBella said.
Labbate will attend the Ocean County Police Academy beginning next month, while the other three are certified New Jersey police officers and began their field training, DiBella said.
"Congratulations to all of you and welcome to the Lacey Township Police Department," DiBella said.
"I would like to thank Township Administrator Veronica Laureigh, Mayor Mark Dykoff and all the members of the Lacey Township Committee for supporting these four new police officer hires," he said.
