835 Total Coronavirus Cases In Ocean County: Officials

Ocean County's test site opens Monday. Here's the breakdown of positive cases by municipality.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — The Ocean County Health Department reported 155 new cases of the novel coronavirus, raising the county total to 835 as of 2 p.m. Sunday.

Governor Phil Murphy reported 21 deaths Sunday. It was not immediately clear in which counties they lived. State officials have reported 13,386 total cases and 161 deaths. Read more: Gov. Murphy: NJ Coronavirus Cases Top 13K, 21 More Deaths

Officials reported Saturday that the virus has killed 10 people in Ocean County.

Testing facilities have increased statewide, and on Monday, Ocean County will have a test site opening at Ocean County College.

Access is by appointment only and you must be a county resident, symptomatic, and in possession of a prescription to be tested, county officials have said.

For information about registering for an appointment, check the health department's website. Testing at the site at Ocean County College is set to open at 9 a.m. All of Monday's appointments are full.

To be tested at the Ocean County College site, these are the requirements:

  • You must be an Ocean County resident and have identification.
  • You must have a physician's prescription
  • You must make an online appointment at www.ochd.org.
  • You must be symptomatic.

The OCHD reiterated Sunday that despite warmer weather, social distancing remains vital for slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

“Some individuals may not be taking the social distancing guidelines too seriously, or are taking short cuts,” said OCHD Public Health Coordinator Daniel Regenye. "That’s why the OCHD believes it’s a good time to make another strong push to get the message across just how much social distancing can work by limiting the spread of the COVID-19 to others."
