📰 News we're reading

1. Lacey Township Arts Group Offers Tiny Art Gallery To Community (patch.com) — Lacey residents are being invited into a growing local arts scene as a handcrafted "tiny art gallery" is offered to the township to showcase community artwork outdoors. Recreation director James Wioland highlighted new exhibits, classes, and a Sept. 29 "Meet the Makers" open house at the Charles A. Smith Community Center, where local artists will demonstrate their work and engage with visitors.

2. Paving Set For 7 Lacey Streets (patch.com) — Road crews will be milling and paving seven neighborhood streets in Lacey starting Sept. 16, following recent gas line upgrades, and drivers should expect alternating traffic patterns and delays. Residents on Montauk, Shenandoah, Preble, Indianola, Boxer, Osage and Neosho Drives are urged to put trash and recycling out before 7 a.m. on collection days so services can continue smoothly during the phased work.

3. Open alcohol, marijuana found after serious Ocean County crash (wobm.com) — A serious head-on crash on Route 539 in Lacey left two people hospitalized in serious but stable condition after police say a Philadelphia driver crossed into oncoming traffic. Investigators reported open alcohol containers, pre-rolled marijuana, and signs of impairment, and the driver now faces assault by auto charges and possible additional counts as the case continues.

4. The 25 highest scoring N.J. football games through Week 2 (nj.com subscription) — Lacey High School's football team earned a notable shutout win over Toms River East, holding them to zero while scoring 10 points in a defense-dominated game. The matchup appears in a statewide roundup of New Jersey's highest-scoring contests, showing how explosive offenses and a few stingy defenses, including Lacey's, are shaping the early season.
