Bicyclist Injured When He And Ford SUV Collide In Lacey

Accident occurred on Lake Barnegat Drive South, police sergeant says.

A Lanoka Harbor bicyclist was injured late Wednesday afternoon when he and a Ford SUV collided at Lake Barnegat Drive North near the intersection of Steuben Avenue, Sgt. Ronald Buxton said.

Several officers responded to the scene where they found Kenneth Taylor, 55, Lanoka Harbor, lying on the roadway alert and conscious, Buxton said.

Taylor had been riding his bike eastbound on Steuben Avenue when he crossed over the intersection with Lake Barnegat Drive North and collided with a vehicle driven by Eugene Dow of Forked River. Dow was traveling south on Lake Barnegat Drive North when the accident occurred, Buxton said.

Taylor complained of back pain and was taken to Community Medical Center by the Lanoka Harbor First Aid Squad for further evaluation. Officer Kym Gudgeon is investigating the accident, he said.
