WEATHER ALERT: Bitter Cold Will Get Worse In Lacey Before It Gets Better

Wednesday night will be the worst, milder air not expected until Monday.

You think it’s cold now? Wait until Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service is warning Ocean County residents that roadways are icy after Tuesday’s snowfall and cold temperatures.

Wednesday will be partly sunny with a balmy high of 28 degrees. Winds will be from the West at 16 to 26 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 38 miles per hour.

Things get worse by nightfall, when the temperatures are expected to dip to 9 degrees, with a wind chill of -7 degrees. Wednesday night stay windy, with northwest winds between 20 to 26 miles per hour,with gusts as high as 38.

“The combination of brisk winds and very cold temperatures will produce wind chills below zero Wednesday night and Thursday morning,” according to the weather service.

Thursday will be sunny but cold, with a high of 22 degrees and a wind chill of - 9 degrees. Winds will be from the west at 15 to 17 miles per hour.

Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with a low of 21 degrees. Winds will switch to the southwest at 15 to 21 miles per hour, paving the way for a high of 35 degrees on Friday.

Friday will be partly sunny, with a high near 35 degrees. But don’t get used to it. Temperatures are not expected to reach 40 degrees until Tuesday, according to the weather service.
