Controlled Burning Today Near Parkway In Lacey, Jakes Branch County Park

Don't be alarmed if you drive through a swath of smoke on the Garden State Parkway in Lacey today.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is doing a prescribed burn near the Garden State Parkway from mile markers 74.0 to 73.5 south bound, according to the Ocean County Sheriff's Facebook page.

There will also be controlled burns in area of the Jakes Branch Park in Beachwood. The burns are typically done in February and March to reduce the risk of forest fires.
